Todd Young and Ari Fleischer visit Dearborn County Country Club
Area voters have had enough of the politics and policies coming out of Washington. And with the fall elections fast approaching, they are looking for new leadership.
Because of this, they have arranged a September 20th meeting with Todd Young,Indiana 9th Congressional DistrictCandidate.
The meeting, which will take place at the Dearborn County Country Club, will give voters the opportunity to both hear from and talk to Todd in an informal setting.
He will be joined by former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer. Ari served as spokesman during the September 11, 2001 Twin Towers destruction, two wars and the anthrax attack. He is also the author of the best-selling book, Taking Heat. The book, which details his years in the White House, reached #7 on The New York Times best-seller list.
Since leaving the White House, Ari has worked extensively in the world of sports and has interesting insight on current events. In addition to Todd and Ari, guests will have the opportunity to meet many other friends and well known local personalities.
The event will be at the Dearborn County Country club on Monday, September 20, 2010, 6:30 to 8:30. Reservations are required and you are invited to get more information by calling Amy Stansfield at (812) 250-6399 or email: amy.stansfield@toddyoungforcongress.com for complete details. Free Soil Testing for Dearborn County Properties
Homeowners, farmers, and others often test soil from their gardens, yards, and fields every three to five years.
The soil tests indicate soil pH and the levels of nutrients that are available for plant growth. The pH of the soil is a measurement of relative acidity. Some plants such as blueberries, rhododendrons, azaleas require an acidic soil. Most other garden crops prefer a neutral pH.
The amount and balance of nutrients in the soil has an effect on plant growth, too. Low levels slow plant growth. High levels can pollute the environment, or cause nutrient imbalances and stress the plants. A soil test lets you know whether you need to add more nutrients and how much lime and fertilizer, if any, to add. Test results provide information that can save you money and prevent water pollution.
The Dearborn County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) is helping Dearborn County landowners through a cost share program that covers reimbursement for soil testing fees on garden, lawn, pasture, hay lands, and orchards. The landowner may send their tests in themselves to a certified lab, or bring it to the SWCD office to be sent in. Also, there is a reimbursement up to $575.00 towards lime application on non-crop land ground, according to current soil test recommendations. For more information or to apply for the program contact Vickie Smith, Technician/Educator at the Dearborn County SWCD office at (812) 926-2406 ext 3 or by email at vickie.smith@in.nacdnet.net.
